If you have had any experience with programming a satellite receiver via computer, you have more than likely ran into a situation that you accidentally either lost power, loaded a non-compatible software or channel list, or had an interruption during your transfer that resulted in your receiver “going bad” or dying and becoming useless. You may have heard people mentioning that you have to open the receiver, find the flash memory and having to JTag the receiver in order to reset or erase the flash memory and reloading the default software or channel/satellite list or software.

The satellite meter also features back light to allow the satellite installer to install in the dark. The screen is divided into 5 sections.
The top section provides the Azimuth, Elevation, and LNBF Polarization of the desired satellite.
The left middle section provides the location of the desired satellite, the transponder frequency, symbol rate, LNBF LO frequency, LNBF polarization ( 13=V / 18=H ), and 22KHz power.
The right middle section provides signal information such as signal level, signal quality, strength, and signal noise. If there is no “S” reading, there is no connection between the LNBF and the meter.
The left bottom section provides the databank of the pre-programmed satellite parameter.

Technology is rapidly changing now days and in the communications department faster than ever here in North America. I especially like to see the changes that have taken place with LNBF’s (Low Noise Block down-converter with integrated feed) What does an LNBF do? Well it amplifies received signals and converts them from microwaves to lower L-band frequency signals which are then sent along a the coax cable to the satellite TV receiver. An LNB can be either single or double or even have 4 outputs. Example if you decide that you want two TV’s with a satellite receiver a double LNB is required allowing the viewing of different channels on other televisions.
